Semper Fido: A Paws Up for Pets for Patriots

I want to send a big Paws up to Pets for Patriots, a not-for-profit organization committed to both veterans and homeless, last-chance shelter pets. In recognition of what our veterans and service members have done for us, Pets for Patriots gives military veterans and service members, who have done so much for all of us, another chance to be heroic by saving the life of a dog or cat in need. These are adult and other at-risk animals who still have many years of love and life to give. The charity arranges for access to ongoing, discounted veterinary care and provides direct support to help make pet food and other basics more affordable.

As the program explains on its website: “Serving in the military is all about loyalty: to our country and its values, to your unit, to your brothers and sisters in arms. In that same spirit, we provide our member Patriots with long-term support for a four-legged friend. A friend who’s dedicated to your happiness from the moment you give it a second chance at life. We think that’s a pretty special friend.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself. If you’d like to learn more about Pets for Patriots, make a donation to boost the group’s good work or support the group’s mission by ordering patriotic-branded apparel, including “Leave No Dog Behind” tees, visit the website : You’ll also find heartwarming adoption stories and videos  — Mario and Kona was our fave.
